Poetry for the lives we lead.

Where meaning lives between the lines.

Many of us rush from one task to the next and rarely stop to notice what we feel. A poem gives us a gentle way back. Poetry is for everyone. Read and listen, reflect together, let's form a nice Poetry Reading Circle.

Your Hosts

Who you'll meet

Ramil Cueto

Ramil Cueto

Poet, author of The Dreamer's Series

Ramil's poems grew out of years of working the land at One Family Farm in Batangas. He opens every circle by reading one of his poems and sharing a little of the story behind it.

Julia Feng

Julia Feng

Host, Facilitator for Reflection

Julia guides a short, gentle reflection after the poem, using a few simple Clean Language questions. There are no right answers, only what the poem stirs in you.

How It Flows

Forty quiet minutes

Be a Guest Reader

Bring a poem you love

Every session, a few people from the circle read a poem aloud. You don't need to be a poet or a performer. You only need a poem that means something to you, one you wrote or one you love.

  • What to prepare: a poem of about three minutes read aloud. Your own poem is warmly encouraged; a favourite by any poet is welcome too.
  • Any language: poems in any language are welcome. Please explain the main meaning in English.
  • How to sign up: tick “I'd like to be a guest reader” when you register.
  • What happens next: we'll email you before the session to confirm your place and reading order. Each session has room for three or four readers.
  • A slide (optional): if you like, send Julia one slide with your poem by the Monday before, or simply the text, and she will show it on screen while you read. You won't need to share your own screen.
  • On the night: share a sentence or two about why you chose the poem, then read it. That's all.

Would you rather just listen? You're very welcome to.

Questions

Do I have to read a poem?

No. You're welcome to come and simply listen. Guest reading is optional.

Do I need to know anything about poetry?

Not at all. Poetry is for everyone. Come as you are.

How do I get the Zoom link?

Register with the form above. We'll email you the Zoom link and a reminder before each session.

Do I need to turn my camera on?

It's up to you. Cameras on make the circle feel warmer, but you're welcome to join with your camera off.

Are the sessions recorded?

We record only the guest readings, with each reader's permission, to share short clips and possibly a future audiobook. The reflection and chat are never recorded. If you'd prefer not to be recorded, just tell us.

Can I join only some sessions?

Yes. Each session stands on its own. Come whenever you can.

See you between the lines.
