Edwin Song

Edwin Song is the founder of Moodie.ai, an AI-powered communication training platform built by Datality Lab, a data science company established in Hong Kong in 2018 with an office in Singapore. Moodie.ai uses vision, voice, and text analysis to give learners practice and detailed feedback on public speaking, presentations, interviews, and sales pitches, mimicking human coaching so that communication skills can be trained at any time and at scale. The platform has been recognized in Hong Kong and Singapore, including a Hong Kong ICT Awards win for Moodie.ai 3.0 in business and public enterprise solutions.

Edwin spent more than two decades in Shanghai and China before returning to Singapore. He was the founding Managing Director of MetrixLab China, where he built the office from scratch, and later Executive Vice President of Business Strategy at the data insights firm InsightWorks. Earlier, his market research work earned industry awards, including a Coca-Cola Agency Award of Excellence. He also founded Seven SensES, offering AI-powered analytics for business sustainability.

Edwin teaches business courses as Associate Faculty at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, and holds a Master of Science in Venture Creation from the National University of Singapore. He has served as a volunteer leader in his community in Singapore. He and Julia Feng have known each other for more than 20 years, since their Executive MBA days together in Shanghai.

On The Adaptive Edge, Edwin described his first three years as a solo founder as being dropped into a jungle: hungry, thirsty, and fighting for every resource. His advice for aspiring and young entrepreneurs is not to go it alone, and to deliberately seek out “wise people” in business who have been through real hardship and can widen your perspective.
